Well, what a weekend. Durational perforamnce, done. Body and mind, broken.
The museum part of the performance went for over 2 hours (I thought it wouldnt possibly go longer than an hour!) during which I broke my little toe. I think it went well. Last week I put posters up round town saying " Hello Dartmoor, I need your help, Come and talk to me- your artist in residence, There will be tea and cakes @ the museum Mondays from 10 am, *please drop in any other time as well". Wednesday the 8th October

Today I walked from home into Dartmoor village, which is about 8km. Mainly long straight roads; I detoured into the verge and bushes, then spent along time in the pine forest plantations which run parallel to the road. I recorded sounds, took photos and collected things as I went.

Tuesday the 7th October


Fun day good day people day.
Went for a quick walk along paddocks before breakfast, followed by loyal sheep dog. Beautiful morning light, hits the trees perfectly here. All the wood is so translucent it takes on the colours of the sky: this morning a troublesome blue, turning a heap of deadwood such a cold blue.

First day of proper work. Discovered a box of old film equipment in the garage waiting to go to the museum. An exciting find of a super8 camera and projector, an editor, project a scope, and reels and reels of old footage- along with lots of silver backs, small creatures a little like woodlice that like to eat paper.

Today was my first visit to the museum.
I drove into Dartmoor village with Michael (the museum owner and my host) and his son Jordy (who's 11). The museum is a beautiful little wooden slat building with a boat on the veranda.
